It was an inspiring day hosting Representative Gillespie for the 2nd Annual North Carolina Bring Your Legislator to School Day! Representative Gillespie visited classrooms, ate with students in the cafeteria, and had insightful discussions with teachers and Superintendent Lynch about ways to improve outcomes for all our students. Thank you for taking time to visit and engage with our community, Representative Gillespie!

Isabelle Denman of Blue Ridge Honor Flight recently reached out to Mr. Larry Pickens to ask for his assistance with a project. Blue Ridge Honor Flight’s mission is to transport America’s Veterans to Washington, DC to visit the memorials dedicated to honor the service and sacrifices of themselves and their friends. On their flight back home the veterans are given letters to read from American citizens. Mr. Pickens reached out to one of his colleagues at Franklin High School, English teacher Mr. Tyler Faetz. Mr. Faetz encouraged his students to write their own handwritten letter to a veteran for this project. Blue Ridge Honor Flight was thrilled to receive the heartfelt letters from the high school students. We hope the veterans will enjoy them as well.

February 15 is National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day!
We are extremely appreciative for our School Resource Officers (SROs) across our district for their contribution to our students and the schools they serve. SROs bridge the gap between youth and law enforcement. They serve our students in counseling, educational and law enforcement roles. SROs are essential members of the education community and deserve the utmost respect and support as they help protect our students, faculty and staff.
Today and every day, we honor and celebrate the dedication and impact of our School Resource Officers!
