Due to the forecast for inclement weather beginning in the early morning hours, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate on a 3-hour delay for tomorrow, Wednesday, February 19. Incoming weather will be closely monitored and if a remote learning day is needed, additional updates will be released.

2025 Graduation Dates & Locations:


Macon County Schools will accept preschool applications and complete develpmental screenings for the 2025-2026 on Friday, March 7 and Friday, March 28, 2025. Appointments are required for screenings. Contact Valerie Norton at 828-524-4414 ext. 1041 for more information or to schedule your appointment.


Just a reminder, this Friday, February 14th, will be a Teacher Workday for all schools throughout the Macon County School System. Students will return to class on Monday, February 17th.

Due to frigid temperatures and extra time needed for buses to idle prior to running routes, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate two-hour delay for tomorrow, Thursday, January 23, 2025. Please stay warm and be safe!


Due to the forecasted single-digit temperatures, Macon County Schools-Franklin area will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, January 22nd. The extreme cold conditions will prevent buses from starting and additional idle time is necessary to ensure the fleet runs safely and effectively.

Important Weather Update for Tomorrow, Tuesday, January 21, 2025

The extreme cold conditions will prevent buses from starting on time, and additional idle time is necessary to ensure the fleet runs safely and effectively.

Reminder: The Macon County School System will be CLOSED this Monday, January 20th, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Students and staff will return on Tuesday, January 21st.
