Week 26 3/3-3/7
This is Goria Painter, the Assistant Principal at Iotla Valley Elementary. I am calling to share some important announcements for this week.
This week is Read Across America week. Each day has a designated theme for students to dress up to show their excitement for reading. Monday - sports-themed shirt; Tuesday - bold, bright colors; Wednesday - detective, green, brown, or camo; Thursday - favorite book character.
This week is National School Breakfast Week (NSBW) that celebrates the importance of a nutritious school breakfast in fueling students for success. This special observance during the first week of March celebrates the national School Breakfast Program and the many ways it gives kids a great start every day.
The Theater Arts Club will meet on Monday and Tuesday. Monday practice will end at the regularly scheduled time. On Tuesday, practice will end at 5:00 pm.
Friday is a teacher workday. There is no school for students.
Our PTO is holding a yard sale at Iotla on March 8th from 8:00-3:00.
Spring individual and class pictures will be held on March 17th.
Attendance Information: Who Can Read on Grade Level After 3rd Grade? 64% of kids with good attendance in K and 1st grade (missing 9 or fewer days both years). 43% of kids with at-risk attendance (missed more than 9 days both years). 17% of kids chronically absent in K and 1st (missed 18 or more days both years).

This week, students wrapped up their bowling unit in PE with a glow bowling party. The gym was transformed into a glowing bowling alley, and students had a blast enjoying this unique black light experience.





Our kindergarten and PreK students presented Down on the Farm tonight. It was an awesome program. A huge thanks to Mrs. Parham and all the teachers that made this happen. We love to see our students shine!




This is a reminder that tomorrow, February 26th is a half day for students. Car riders will dismiss at 11:15 am. Have a great evening.

Week 25: 2/24-2/28

The Theater Arts Club will meet on Monday and Tuesday at 2:50 p.m. There are no later practices this week.
Pre-K and Kindergarten Down on the Farm Program will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 pm.
Wednesday is a half day for students.
Thursday, students will participate in Glow Bowling during their PE time. Students can dress in neon or white for a black light experience.
Friday is Hat Day. Students can wear a hat for $1.00. Students can always show their school spirit by wearing an IVE T-shirt.
Looking ahead

Attendance Information: Once a student has reached 10 absences with a parent's handwritten note, it is required that any further absences must come from a doctor to be excused. Please ensure absence notes are turned in within 3 days of the student's return to school.

Our book blast starts on Monday. Students will bring home a treasure map with instructions on how to sign up. This requires no purchase to participate. Your student(s) are eligible for prizes and rewards solely based on participation through signing up and sending invites to other family members and friends.
Data Day will be held this Friday.

Theater Club on Tuesday the 11th will be rehearsing until 5 pm.
The Theater Arts Club will meet on Monday and Tuesday at 2:50 p.m. On Tuesday, the 11th, they will be rehearsing until 5 p.m. Students must be picked up at school on Tuesday evening.
This is Love the Bus week. If your child rides the bus, please take a moment to thank your child's bus driver. Our bus drivers do an amazing job keeping our students staff to and from school.
This Thursday is School Resource Office Appreciation Day.
Our PTO will hold its Valentine's Family Dance on Thursday, February 13th, from 6:00 to 7:30. Entrance is free. Snacks and Drinks will be available for purchase for $2 each, and carnations will be available for $3 each.
This is a reminder that Friday is a teacher workday. There is no school for students.
